This project examines the material conditions of engraving production, seeking to develop practices suited to a world with limited resources.

This window displays the result of an attempt to create a recycling system for two essential materials used in engraving: ink and paper. The pigments used to make the inks are extracted from food waste (onion skins, carrot tops, pomegranate or avocado peels, etc.), while the paper is produced from scraps and misprints collected from the collective print workshop of Fructôse (artists’ studios located in Dunkirk, France). These leftovers are turned into pulp and transformed into new sheets of paper.

The project also conforms to the specific presentation requirements of Art au Centre, a shop window and a long-term exhibition, as part of the experiment itself. It explores and reveals the gradual transformations caused by UV exposure on plant-based inks and recycled paper: fading colors, disappearance of images, yellowing. Rather than treating these changes as damage, the project considers them as visual and artistic possibilities in their own right.

Finally, this research “recycles” a collection of printing matrices created during a residence at RAVI in 2022 around the Parc de la Citadelle in Liège. That work explored the combination of traditional engraving techniques with digital tools such as laser cutting and CNC machining.

[56
post-5164","vitrine","type-vitrine","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","exposition-rawette
["GET
