Zoé Médard
Curator : Anna Ozanne
3863 Rue de la Cathédrale
Plastic artist trained in videography at the ESAVL, Zoé Médard has developed multiple facets of her work.
She approaches the video in experimental, documentary and fictional forms. She also practices sculpture, photography, installation, performance, etc. Inventing the work in and from the space where she exhibits is the specialism of the artist. For this project, Zoé Médard covers the window with a second skin invented from details of images of broken windows and effects of glass and crystal fragments.
The appearance of the window is physically retouched as one modifies a virtual image. Reality is modified and questions our certainties. Strange ornament, the intervention is a frontage jewel, a jewelry for the street. What has been abandoned shines again, what is ugly becomes beautiful. Like a layer of chipped off varnish, this imaginary territory conveys stories, scars of a civic anger or marks of violent events in the public/collective space. With a kind of empathy, the work connects this window with all windows in the world. Zoé Médard transforms this empty store into a zone of alterity of the distance. I am here and elsewhere, l’Ici est l’Ailleurs.
