The martyr of Saint Sebastian is a biblical figure often invoked in the collective imagination for his fight against the plague and various epidemics. The use of this character therefore directly resonates with current events and the health crisis that the world has been experiencing. It alludes to the successive epidemics that have struck through history and to the various sacred or secular motives, to the individual or collective beliefs that each one adopts to exorcise fear and overcome the ordeal.
By using chrome on the canvas, the artist also creates a mirror effect and therefore an identifying effect. The canvas thus returns the viewer to his own image and confronts him with his own questions generated by the crisis and the role he may have invested in this context (that of observer or actor). Other techniques are also used : acrylic, spray paint and oil paint (glaze technique) as well as neon which replaces arrows. Neon no longer has the sole vocation of piercing the body or causing pain. It also enlightens it and the person who observes it.
