PECCATO
#4
Claudia Passeri
Curator : Saryna Nyssen
86116 Rue Hors-Château
Peccato, the life experience.
Peccato, noun, Italian
Religious/moral meaning : « sin ».
Exclamatory meaning : « Too bad ! » or « it is a pity to… »
Claudia Passeri’s artwork Peccato presents itself in a neutral environment, the background is monochrome, the letters are white and the font is clear, almost sharp. Devoid of emotional emphasis, it is a cold white word that falls.
Peccato, a single word that designates by itself the state created by disappointment and resignation. It is the impetus that leads to the acceptance and to the beginnings of resilience. Peccato is an Italian old tune that punctuates life, an exclamation that, facing the hazards of life, takes an increasingly colder and clearer form.
Facing this neon, this impassive light, it is a simple fact for us all, it is an ad for a future where guilt fades. Given the recent events linked to Covid-19, Claudia Passeri’s artwork takes a particular meaning : « it is a pity for life, too bad for tomorrow ? It is a pity for the others, too bad for me ? Life is not easy, but let’s move on… »
Until the neon switches off, each observer will find a personal, moral, religious meaning or simply the reflection of the mistakes and regrets of the past. Peccato causes the introspection and afterwards maybe a new start strengthened by these observations.
