« I grew up by the sea. It’s universe that lies at the source of my inspiration. It is sentimental, sensorial, suffused with melancholy. It praises the pink skies of August and the warm land of the hills, the faded beaches at dusk and the unfathomable depth of the horizon. My painter and artist approach allows me to reproduce this territory that is mine, intimate and geographic.
My language combines these influences with a research centered on the notions of color and gesture : materiality or evanescence of the first quoted, deletion or emphasis of the second named. Painting is transposing reality to otherworldliness without marks only delimited by the look facing the painting. It is also an act by which I give substance to a sensitive and sensual perception expressing an absolute love for light and colors, and a deep belief in their magic and mysterious nature. The colorful gradations suggest a celestial and immaterial world that only exists via the substance. The void is full of color, in tension with the denseness of the layers and the saturation. The painted surface reveals my gestures erased by their own repetition. Thinking I was escaping, I observe the impossibility of doing so : the tiniest imperfection always reveals the process. My hand can’t imitate the sky.
The absence of limits and leaking points maintains the quest for a horizon as much as the desire of losing myself in it. Through the variations of substances and supports, I seek the continuity of a universe that I see as being as immersive for the spectator as the perception of the surrounding world is for me. »
