« Nothing is better hidden than what’s present and nothing is more present than what’s hidden. » This quote by Edgar Allan Poe in The Purloined Letter evokes this sense of lack that we try to make up for facing something that we do not understand.

Through sculpture but also photography, I create structures or shapes that are voluntarily incomplete and raise questions.

The elements that I show are potential clutches that are liable to trigger the imagination of the observer.

For this project targeting windows without any function located in the center of Liege, I want to deceive the eye of the observers.

A window is usually designed to be readable because it is supposed to be the attractive window of what we see inside of it.

For this installation, I propose the opposite : a window in which the exhibited object is not directly comprehensible. The object is more enigmatic than transparent. However, the presented pieces are made of crystal, a material that is part of our transparent imagination but here has a different appearance.

Héloïse Colrat was born in Lyon in 1992. In 2017, she graduated from the Haute École des Arts du Rhin in Strasbourg, where she had participated in the glass workshop in 2013. She currently lives and works in Brussels where she continues to develop her artistic practice.
